Jageshwar Almora

UttarakhandJageshwar Dham is a Hindu temple falls in Almora district, Uttarakhand, India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, a Hindu deity, considered the Supreme God. The temple is believed to be built during 9th to 13th century AD. The temple comprises group of 124 large and small stone temples, conserved by the the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). These temples include: Dandeshwar Temple, Jageshwar Temple, Mritunjaya Temple, Nanda Devi Temple, Nava-grah temple, Chandi-ka-Temple, a Pyramidal shrine, Surya Temple, and Kuber Temple.

The temple is based at the altitude of 1870 mts., along with the Jataganga river valley, adjacent to Deodar forest. The Jageshwar Dham is considered to be first of the twelve Jyotirlingas, Nageshvara Jyotirlinga. A festival named 'Jageshwar Monsoon Festival' is also organized on 15 July to 15 August every year. According to folklores Adi Shankaracharya visited Jageshwar and renovated many temples before his visit for Kedarnath.

Dandeshwar Temple is one of the major attractions of the Dham. It is finest example of ancient iconography of Lord Shiva. The temple having iron bell at the gate of the temple which forms an important link among local diety known as Gollu Devta and Lord shiva.
Jageshwar Dham is consists of many shrines; most of them are dedicated to Lord Shiva which are:
Jageshwara, Dandeshavara, Nilakantheshvara, Mahamrityunjaya, etc. The place holds various festival every year among them few are: Pooram Festival celebrated every year at Vaddakkunnath Temple in the month of March and April.
  
How to Reach There

It is easy reach Jageshwar through road from Almora, as it is just 34 km. From there, one can get bus and hier private taxies.

Other way to reach Jageshwar is Kathgodam railway station which is located at the distance of about 135 km.

Nainital is other one option for reaching Jageshwar which is 100 km and makes available buses, taxies and such other public transport for the place.
