Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand

If you are going to plan a trip for some adventurous place where you can behold wildlife from very close, and can found your self in the lap of nature then Corbett National Park suits your taste. Beautiful landscapes, dense forest, and diverse wildlife are the few drawing card that delight the tourists.
 
Corbett National Park comes under the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, India founded in 1936 as Hailey National Park. The park is dedicated to Jim Corbett, a conservationist, whose pivotal role for the park will never be forget. The park is spread over an area of about 1288.22 Square Kms. having sub-Himalayan belt. The project named Project Tiger is being run by the government of India to promote and protect endangered Bengal Tiger, India.

Wild Life Of The Park

The park is covered with diverse variety of flora and fauna, forest mainly comprises haldu, pipal, rohini and mango and sal trees, and about 10% of the park is consists of pencil grass where Indian elephants can be spotted any time. The park houses about 60 species of mammals, above 500 bird species, 100 of tree species and more than 20 reptile species. In addition, the park is abode of endangered Bengal tiger under the project Project Tiger. Bull elephant, Leopard, Indian pangolins, Nightjars, yellow-throated martens, barking, hog Little green bee-eaters, spotted deer, sambar, and Himalayan Black bears are easily spotted fauna of the park.


Climate And Best Time To Visit

The climate of the area remains temperate. In winter mornings are foggy and chilly. The summer is quite pleasant in the region but sometimes temperature rises above 40 °C (104 F). It faces moderate rain fall to heavy rain fall during monsoons.
October to July is the best time to visit the park. It is advised not to visit park during monsoon as you may have to face heavy rainfall and landslides.

How To Reach Corbett National Park

Road: Best way to reach Corbett, is Ramnagar as it is the closed town to the park and further connected with major cities such as Delhi, Lucknow, Ranikhet, Haridwar, via road.

Air: Pantnagar airport is the nearest airport to the park which is situated at the distance of Just 50 KM and International airport is Delhi Airport.

Train: Ramnagar railway station is adjacent to the park, which is situated at the distance of about 12 km and connected to Delhi, Moradabad through North East Railway.
